Toxin is Everywhere

I kid you not; I really think that this sign should be on some of the products sold in pharmacies. Regulations are so loose in many countries (some are better than others, but this is another topic for another time), and not many chemicals used are properly tested for human (or animal) use. The cumulative effects on us can be catastrophic, but only some information have been released to keep the consumer informed. Earlier this month, the FDA finally banned anti-bacterial soaps, admitting that anti-bacterial soaps are no better in cleaning than ordinary soap. These soaps contain tricosan or tricocarban plus 17 other harmful chemicals, which are synthetic chemical that is used to kill bacteria. Recent studies show that tricosan causes thyroid and reproductive (developing foetus) damages. Some scientists also believe that it contributes to the antibiotics resistance movement (encouraging the growth of antibiotic resistant bacteria, also known as superbugs). How? The water with the soap runs down our drain which eventually makes it way to our soil and water system.

Heard of the term “carcinogen”? Carcinogen is an agent that causes cellular destruction. These can be led by a range of factors including diet, radiation, environmental toxins etc. Remember the movie Erin Brockovich? It is based on a real story whereby Erin Brockovich exposed toxic chemicals that were released into the water supplies of a town in California, leading to many getting sick. Here’s what you need to watch out for with your daily products, as these are known carcinogens: synthetic colours, SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) and SLES (sodium laureth sulphate), formaldehyde, BHA / BHT (butylated hydroxyanisole / hydroxytoluene), coal tar. Besides being a carcinogen, they collectively cause other serious damages to our organs, skin, cancer, allergies, harm to our immune system.. think you get the just of it.

Go to your bathroom cupboard today and check a few labels and see what you find. Remove these poisons from your home and provide a cleaner environment for you and your family starting today.
